"Buying early and buying carefully will allow for special offers to be taken advantage of, ensuring that budgets are kept to and that a joyous Christmas can be had all round!"

Founder of CIJ Group and retail expert, Courtney Rogers, recently featured in Simply Christmas magazine, sharing her expertise on current top themes, trends and what her predictions are for this festive season. In light of the challenges we face this Christmas, the four page spread focusses on Courtney's key advice on planning early for Christmas this year to capitalise on great deals and discounts and to make the most of the festivities.

Courtney commented: “Buying early and buying carefully will allow for special offers to be taken advantage of, ensuring that budgets are kept to and that a joyous Christmas can be had all round!”

Of course, a key part of the festive day itself is the food and drink and getting the family together to enjoy a delicious Christmas meal.

On Christmas food trends for this year, Courtney said: “Instead of lavish, carefully curated spreads, there will be an increase in ‘bring-a-plate feasts’. This fun dining experience allows the whole family (or group of friends) to get involved in making delicious homemade food. It’s great for saving pennies while also wasting less. For a touch of indulgence, Kocktail’s Mince Pie Old Fashioned will tickle the fussiest of taste buds.”

Courtney also discusses gifting trends for the year, predicting that genuinely sustainable gifting options will be hugely popular this Christmas.

Speaking about gift planning, Courtney commented:  “When it comes to gifting, we are becoming more mindful than ever of where we buy from, looking at not only the sustainability of the product itself, but also its packaging and origin. Retailers such as eBay will reap the rewards of sustainable gifting, with pre-loved items galore. Shoppers will also opt to buy local and give back to their communities, as well as creating handmade presents for loved ones.”

Decorating your home is also a must for every Christmas lover, with Christmas trees, baubles and wreaths helping to get the whole family in the festive mood.

Sharing her thoughts on decoration trends for 2022, Courtney said: “As we look for more thrifty ways to decorate our homes, we can expect to see homemade, crafty decorations adorning the fireplace, table and tree. Inspiration for eye-catching tablescapes can be taken and created from many brands, including Oxfam’s affordable homeware and decoration ranges. A top tip is to get in early, as popular lines are likely to sell out quickly.”
