"Well food always helps… But no in all seriousness, make sure I have everything I need to include your product in your initial email - it will save us both a lot of time!"

Please provide a brief introduction to yourself & Bauer Media

I’ve worked for Bauer Media for seven and a half years and am a Digital Writer for Mother&Baby and Yours - two very different but equally interesting brands. I also look after the product reviews for both, something I believe is a really valuable resource, especially for parents who are trying to navigate the confusing world of baby products!

Although I originally started my career in the print side of the business, digital completely has my heart now. I love the fast-paced environment and how quickly we get a response from our readers.

Give us the inside scoop, what is your favourite part about working as Digital Writer for Mother & Baby and Yours?

While the opportunities the role has provided have been incredible, it has to be how varied the role is. One minute I’ll be writing about menopause or reviewing a pizza oven, the next I’m interviewing a celebrity about their birth. It really keeps me on my toes and keeps everything fresh and exciting which I thrive on.

What is it you look for from brands you're looking to feature, are there any particular price points?

Working for two separate brands, price points differ - the older generation naturally has a bit more disposable income than parents tend to, so this is worth bearing in mind.

We’re also really interested in eco-friendly brands and products at the moment for obvious reasons. But ultimately, we’re always going to be drawn to products that solve a problem and genuinely help the buyer in some way.

What’s the most memorable approach you’ve had from a PR (good or bad)!

I once attended an event with a baby food brand at Dans le Noir, a restaurant where you dine completely in the dark. We were guided and served by blind or partially sighted staff and sat with other members of the press we’d never met before, while tasting things we couldn’t see and it was a truly sensory experience. I certainly won’t forget it!

If you could give a PR advice on what to do to get your attention and secure coverage with you - what would it be?

Well food always helps… But no in all seriousness, make sure I have everything I need to include your product in your initial email - it will save us both a lot of time! I like to see hi-res imagery (both lifestyle and cut out) along with product description, price and a product link. It’s also really handy if you have access to an expert who can provide answers to any questions we have or their top tips as a lot of content is expert-led.

My don’ts would be to not chase an email three hours after you’ve sent it, try to phone, or to get my name/our brands wrong!
